Ensenada 4-3-12-Lots a Nice Lings
Met Cory and Felisha at my bar (Tequilas Ensenada Sports Bar) and after a few cold ones they decided to pull the trigger on a combo trip, fishing and whale watch. Cory and Felisha are from Australia and wanted to fish in Mexico before heading back to the land down under. I picked them up at their hotel at 6:30AM for a quick ride to my boat in Cruiseport. We headed out around 6:45AM and my buddy was waiting for us at the Marina Coral with a few mackerel for the bait tank. We decided we needed more and made 25-30 more pieces right outside the marina. The move to make the extra bait paid off as that was all the ling cod wanted to eat. And for a while it was pretty much a ling cod a bait as well. Most of the fish were caught inside the Bajo on dropper loops and live mackerel and the rest on iron. We caught 30+ lings with 10 that were kept going 5-15lbs.

We also spotted 5 grey whales to complete the trip. Swell was pretty steep but there was very little wind and a good separation between sets that pretty much diminished by days end. In fact after dropping Cory and Felisha off myself and my deckhand Angel headed back out and finished the day catching a couple of calico's a couple of miles from Ensenada Harbor.
